Cartier vs. Brandon

“You know you owe me, right?” Cartier huffed into the phone as he arrived at Shiloh’s apartment complex. “How did you leave the house without the most important thing?”’

“Well, excuse the shit out of me for being nervous,” she hissed. “It’s only my first video shoot.”

“And that’s another damn thing,” he fussed, exiting his vehicle. “What the hell are you nervous about? You know how amazing of a dancer you are.”

“There’s a huge difference between being on stage and being in front of a camera.”

“Man, let me find out I’ma have to drop you and find Carson another step-mama. Ain’t no room in our lives for that scary shit, Lo.”

“If you want to die, I promise there are easier ways.”

“Awe,” Cartier grinned, entering the building. “You love me so much that you’d be willing to kill me rather than lose me?”

“Try again, negro,” she snorted. “I love Carson too much to let you play with me about him.”

“That’s cold, Lo.”

“So is Alaska. Now quit yapping and hurry up with my bag.”

“I got you, babe. I’ll see you in a few.”

As Cartier approached Shiloh’s apartment door, he was glad their call ended when it did.

“Lo,” Brandon bellowed, banging on the door.

“Bruh, I don’t know where you left your mind,” Cartier said as he grew closer. “But I suggest you do the safe thing and find it.”

Disgust emitted from Brandon as he looked Cartier up and down. “Who the fuck are you?”

“The nigga who’s not finna tell you twice to get the fuck away from my girl’s door.”

“Your girl?” Brandon repeated.

“You hard of hearing or something?”

“Listen, I don’t know what Shiloh told you, but—”

Cartier slammed his fist into Brandon’s face before the latter could finish speaking. “That’s for playing in Lo’s face knowing you had a wife.” Drawing back, Cartier struck him again. “That’s for me having to watch her cry.”

Releasing a guttural sound similar to that of a wounded animal, Brandon grabbed his face just as Cartier shoved him into the wall.

“That’s for being a bitch and not knowing how to defend yourself and my girl,” Cartier spat before striking Brandon again, this time sending him to the ground. “And that’s for being with her in the first place when she was supposed to be with me.” Stepping over him, Cartier fished into his pocket for his key to Shiloh’s home. “I suggest you find somewhere else to bleed. Because if I come out of my girl’s spot and you’re still here, it’s going to be a very bad day for you,” Cartier called over his shoulder before stepping into the apartment and closing the door behind him.
